How do I interpret TFI scores ?

Scores are awarded separately for the 2 sections, based on a scale ranging from 5 to 495 points. Hence, the total score will be between 10 and 990 points.

Test takers receive a TFI certificate , an internationally recognised document that highlights your level of French competence and displays:

  • Your name
  • Your score for listening comprehension
  • Your score for reading comprehension
  • Your total test score
  • The name of the establishment where you took the test
  • The date you took the test
  • The official TFI seal

Score roster

The results can be delivered to a company or school in the form of a score roster. The roster is only for internal use and cannot be used by individual candidates to report their official scores. Each score roster includes:

  • Individual scores (listening comprehension, reading comprehension, and total scores)
  • Scores from the most recent testing session (including average score and range of scores)
  • Scores obtained in all testing sessions within the same institution
  • Scores within the industry with which the client if affiliated
  • Scores within the country with which the client is affiliated

Additional specialised reports, such as the results for all of an organisation’s employees in certain job categories can be produced by ETS at the client’s request.
